GREASE TRAP MAINTENANCE

The Grease Trap, a harsh reality of what goes down the sink.

Let's face it, cleaning a grease trap is a dirty job. They smell, and not like a field of wild flowers. The grease inside, if not removed properly, is going to find its way on to everything. Floors, shoes, clothes, hands, hair...ok, I think you get the point. Once it is removed from the trap, you can't just throw it out. This is where Eden Green Energy excels. Although we won't ever get used to the smell, when the proper maintenance schedule is carried out, the smell diminishes greatly. That goes for in between cleanings and during the cleaning. Sure, when the lid is first opened some odor is apparent. Our technicians use a deodorizer that freshens the area during the service. To properly remove the grease trap contents, our vacuum truck lines quickly remove all of the fat, oil, grease, water, and solids. The vacuuming keeps the grease trap contents from getting everywhere. When the service is complete, all material removed is disposed of at a permitted waste water plant. Don't let this aspect of your waste stream ruin your day, make a big mess, and cost you more money. This is one of those things that if left for a long period without maintenance, real problems happen. These problems are much more expensive than regular cleanings.

GREASE TRAP FUNCTION

GREASE TRAP CLEANING

  • Water, fat, oil, grease, and solids enter the grease trap from the sink.
  • The flow is directed downward by the inlet and the baffle.
  • Heavy solids are accumulated on the bottom of the unit.
  • The water, fat, oil, and grease pass into the main chamber and begin to separate. Water is heavier than fat, oil, and grease by specific gravity.
  • The heavier water exits the trap from a baffle that reaches below the fat, oil, and grease line.
  • The grease trap is performing as designed and sized.
